Preparing Primary Care for Alzheimer’s Disease Risk Communication: An Empirical-Ethical Framework
Biomarkers that can be used to detect Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases are an important component in the early detection of dementia. In the interdisciplinary PREPARE project, we want to investigate empirically and ethically how the use of blood biomarkers in GP practices can be designed in a patient-oriented way.
To achieve this, attitudes, information needs and risk and health literacy levels of GPs, patients and their relatives are being surveyed. The aim is to develop communication guidelines, digital resources and practical PREPARE materials for primary healthcare. We would like to make this information, visual materials and explanatory videos freely available to you on this website as the project progresses.
PREPARE is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The joint project is a cooperation between the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG), the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), the University Hospital Bonn (UKB), the Harding Center for Risk Literacy and the University of Potsdam.
